So imagine the surprise when Brian Chen at the New York Times recently penned an article that not only questions whether or not the spectrum crisis is even real, but goes so far as to suggest that spectrum collection may actually be driven by anti-competitive interests. Refreshingly, the Times figures out that if you actually ask engineers about these problems — instead of carrier lobbyists and PR people — the reality looks quite different:
